Battery Testing and Replacement
A vehicle battery does more than start the engine. It stabilises voltage for sensitive electronic systems. Weak batteries can cause:
Slow cranking
Flickering dash lights
Random warning lights
Electronic glitches
Stop start system failure
We test battery condition under load, check charging output and inspect terminals and cables before recommending replacement.
Alternator and Charging System Faults
The alternator recharges the battery while the engine is running. If it fails, the vehicle will rely solely on battery power until it stops.
Signs of alternator issues include:
Battery warning light illuminated
Dimming headlights
Electrical accessories losing power
Repeated flat batteries
Charging system testing ensures the correct component is replaced.
Starter Motor Problems
A faulty starter motor may cause:
Clicking noises when turning the key
Engine not cranking
Intermittent starting issues
Testing confirms whether the issue lies with the starter motor, battery, ignition switch or wiring.
Sensor and Module Diagnostics
Modern engines rely on sensors to monitor air flow, fuel mixture, temperature and emissions. When sensors fail or provide incorrect readings, performance suffers.
We test:
Oxygen sensors
Mass airflow sensors
Crank and cam position sensors
Coolant temperature sensors
ABS sensors
Accurate diagnosis avoids replacing multiple components unnecessarily.
Trailer Wiring and Accessory Installations
Incorrect trailer wiring can damage vehicle control modules. Professional installation ensures correct integration with modern electrical systems.
We install and repair:
Trailer plugs
Brake controllers
Auxiliary power wiring
Driving lights
Dual battery systems
Correct integration prevents overload and short circuits.
Electric Window or Sunroof Faults
Electric windows and sunroofs rely on motors, switches, regulators, tracks and control modules. When one part fails, operation can become slow, noisy or stop completely.
These systems are exposed to dust, vibration and weather changes, particularly in regional driving conditions. Over time, cables stretch, motors weaken and tracks wear.
Common Electric Window Faults
Window not moving
Window dropping into the door
Slow or uneven movement
Clicking noise inside the door
Driver master switch not controlling other windows
Intermittent operation
Electric window failures are often caused by:
Failed regulator assembly
Burnt out motor
Faulty switch
Broken wiring in the door hinge area
Control module fault
Blown fuse or relay
Proper testing confirms whether power is reaching the motor and whether the mechanical assembly is binding before replacing parts.
Sunroof Fault Diagnosis and Repairs
Sunroofs combine electrical motors with sliding tracks and drainage systems. When they fail, symptoms may include:
Sunroof not opening or closing
Grinding noise during operation
Sunroof stuck open
Water leaks into the cabin
Sunroof tilting unevenly
Sunroof problems can be electrical, mechanical or drainage related. Common causes include:
Worn motor
Jammed or misaligned track
Damaged cables
Blocked drain tubes
Faulty switch
Blocked drains are a frequent cause of interior water leaks. Clearing drains early prevents headlining damage and electrical corrosion.
Infotainment System Upgrades
Many older vehicles still run outdated factory head units without modern connectivity. Upgrading the entertainment system improves usability, safety and resale value.
We supply and install compatible head units with:
Apple CarPlay
Android Auto
Bluetooth hands-free calling
Reverse camera integration
Touchscreen displays
USB and media connectivity
Steering wheel control retention
Professional installation matters. Modern vehicles integrate head units with reversing cameras, parking sensors, steering wheel controls and factory amplifiers. Incorrect installation can lead to electrical faults, warning lights or battery drain.
We ensure correct wiring, module integration and secure mounting to suit your vehicle model.
Reverse Camera Installation
Reverse cameras improve visibility and reduce blind spots when parking or reversing. We install and integrate cameras into compatible display units while maintaining factory safety systems.
Audio Upgrades
Speaker and amplifier upgrades can be installed without compromising electrical stability. Proper grounding and fuse protection prevents overload and interference.
Frequently Asked Questions about Auto Electrical Services
Yes. Voltage instability and faulty sensors can affect fuel delivery, ignition timing and emissions control. Electrical faults often present as rough idling, hesitation or increased fuel consumption.
Driving with the battery warning light on is risky. It usually indicates the charging system is not operating correctly.
If the alternator fails completely, the vehicle may stall once the battery is depleted.
Random warning lights are often linked to voltage irregularities or communication faults between control modules.
Testing electrical stability and system voltage is essential before replacing sensors or modules.
Yes. Modern vehicles use networked control modules that communicate through computer systems. Accurate diagnosis requires scan tools capable of reading manufacturer data and live sensor readings.
Poor installation can cause battery drain. Incorrect wiring, constant power supply issues or faulty accessories can create parasitic draw. Professional installation prevents these problems.
When installed correctly using appropriate interface modules, safety systems such as reverse cameras and parking sensors continue to function normally.
Couple of weeks ago I had a nail in my tyre and needed it repaired quickly. I went to 2 other tyre places in Moe. First said he doesn't have the time to fix it, the next said sorry we shut in 4 mins. I drove past Tyrepower and noticed the rollar door up. It was after hours but I still called to try my luck. Luckily for me they answered and were willing to fix my tyre then and there. He worked back nearly an hour and a half past knock off time and still fit me in. Drove away more then a happy customer.🙂
Thank you to Moe Tyrepower for assistance after my tyre blew out on the highway. You checked the damaged tyre and gave good advice on my options - and then would not take payment for your time and the work you did. I appreciated your help when I was so far from home.
Thanks to Lloyd Street Tyers for fixing my car so late in afternoon, it was the starter motor. A special thanks to Brendan and his team for making it happen so efficiently. l highly recommend Lloyd Street Tyre and Auto for all your automotive needs.
Fitted a complicated aftermarket rear camber kit for me. Did a great job for a reasonable price on my Classic 1985 Mercedes. Good Tradesman as they were able to achieve a good result without removing seats 💺 etc to get at suspension components. Lots of other Workshops would just avoid the job. 🙏 handles great and negative camber from first photo reduced to stop tire wear.
